The Great Debate: Ice Cream or Frozen Yogurt?
People have been arguing about this for decades since frozen yogurt hit the scene in the 1970’s. Which is better – ice cream or frozen yogurt? Both of the options taste good and are a wonderful cold treat during the hot summer months. You can get both ice cream and frozen yogurt in a variety of flavors. Both are full of health benefits, but which one is better?

Most people decide based on the simple comparisons of calories and fat grams. While this does offer a quick snapshot of health benefits, these are not the only things to think about. You should also notice sugar content. Some frozen yogurts are extremely low calorie and have no fat grams at all, but they are loaded with sugar. The added sugar is definitely not a good thing!
One of the biggest benefits of frozen yogurt is the digestive benefits from probiotic content. All frozen yogurt contains these natural live bacteria called probiotics. They are very helpful to the body in a variety of ways. They help with treating irritable bowel syndrome and urinary tract infections. Some research has suggested probiotics can help reduce the risk of cancer and even eczema. Finally, probiotics will boost your over all immune system helping you to stay healthy and avoid sickness.
Frozen yogurt is also a better choice for people who are lactose intolerant. They can tolerate the smaller amount of lactose in frozen yogurt much better than the heavy cream used for ice cream. It seems that when all things are considered, frozen yogurt is the obvious winner in the debate. It is both delicious and good for you!
Frozen Yogurt: A Tasty Trend
I remember when I was a little kid and my brothers and I would look forward to eating ice cream or a popsicle on a hot summer day. Back in those days, I was a huge fan of Rocky Road ice cream and every kid loved the Flavor Ice popsicles. We didn't have the huge variety of frozen treats that are around today and there certainly weren't anywhere near the number of specialty ice cream, frozen custard, smoothie or frozen yogurt stores that now cater to those in need of a sweet, cold treat. Nowadays, it seems like some type of specialty store that sells ice cream or frozen yogurt is opening up on a monthly basis in my city.

Many people have become more health conscious since I was a little kid. People are looking for healthier options for sweets and many parents refuse to buy the sugary, sweetened snacks that I used to love when I was young. However, when I was young I didn't have to worry about being obese because during the summer, I was always outside running around and playing sports. I burnt off all of those calories, but many kids today simply don't get off the couch to exercise.
I must say, frozen yogurt really does provide the best of both worlds. It is absolutely delicious, but it is also much healthier than ice cream or frozen custard. That is not to say that frozen yogurt is only for health fanatics. In fact, most frozen yogurt chain stores have plenty of sugary treats that you can top your frozen yogurt with. So, will frozen yogurt become a huge hit across America, or is it only a passing fad? Well, obviously only time will tell whether it will become engrained in our culture like ice cream, but if you ask me, it is a great way to enjoy a cold treat without feeling guilty!
The History and Mystery of Frozen Yogurt
Frozen yogurt has been a favorite treat of people both young and old for a long time. Despite how much people enjoy frozen yogurt, many have no clue exactly how it is made or what it is made from. In order to fully appreciate this delicious treat, let’s take a look at the history and the mystery of frozen yogurt.
Frozen yogurt originated in New England in the 70’s and it was an instant sensation. Its popularity caused it to quickly spread throughout the United States and around the world. Various companies began to market frozen yogurt products to the public. Ice cream companies promoted frozen yogurt as a tasty treat for those who were watching their diets and needed a low fat alternative to regular ice cream that still tasted good.
That brings us to the mystery of frozen yogurt. Is it ice cream? Is it yogurt? The answer is both! Frozen yogurt is made from milk and yogurt. It has a slightly tart taste from the yogurt that is added into the mix. Frozen yogurt is made using milk rather than heavy cream so it is definitely a low fat alternative.
For ice cream lovers who can’t bear the thought of giving up their favorite dessert, frozen yogurt is a dream come true. It offers the same rich flavor and creamy texture with fewer calories and fat grams. Many people make the transition to frozen yogurt and decide they no longer enjoy ice cream as much anymore. You can get frozen yogurt at any ice cream shop or even in the frozen foods aisle of your grocery store. Give it a try and see if you love it!
Introducing Trendy Yogurt
I live in a small town in western North Carolina, and while our town is open to change, its becoming more evident that tradition trumps trend. Im not sure if this trend is happening all over the country, but these new frozen yogurt places are popping up everywhere. These new yogurt places are the kind where you are worked through a chute like cattle, presented with a million different types of soft serve frozen yogurt, an endless diabetic coma called a topping bar, and then finally you pay for your loot by the ounce at the end of the cattle chute.
If I sound a little jaded about the idea it is only because the tradition in my small North Carolina town for the last twenty years has been TCBY. Much more akin to the traditional ice cream parlor, TCBY was the hangout spot, the after church meeting place, and the summer nights place to be. For our little town, TCBY was more than a yogurt shop. It was a place to see and be seen.
Then it happened. An all out war was waged in our town. The new trendy place moved into a strip mall across town, and TCBYs parent company was already taking a beating from the new trendy self-serve places. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with the self-serve yogurt shop, but when TCBY was threatening to close our local franchise, the war was on. Locals boycotted the trendy shop, and hosted protests to the parent company for their threats to take our TCBY away. All in all, the town won. TCBY stayed, and the self serve place now caters to a smaller clientele. This just goes to show that even with frozen yogurt, tradition trumps trendy.
Top Brands of Frozen Treats
Growing up my family always loved fresh baked desserts. My mom loved to bake, as do I. Cooking is something I find to be a chore but give me something sweet and we are good. Of course when you have fresh, hot out of the oven brownies or pie of any kind you have to have a big scoop or two of ice cream.
Growing up it was always a treat to look into the freezer and see Pet Ice Cream in there just waiting to be part of our dessert. Pet Vanilla Bean was my favorite and Pet Butter Pecan was my parents'. If it was ice cream the flavor really didnt matter.
Later on I fell in love with Mayfield brand ice cream. You can never go wrong with Birthday Cake Flavored Mayfield Ice Cream. This stuff is out of this world. Now dont get me wrong, if Im craving some vanilla, Pet is what I reach for.
If Im in the mood for something rich and sinfully delicious I have to say that Haagen-Dazs is my choice. Being a little more expensive it isnt something I buy often but when you want dreamy you go for the Dazs. Haagen-Dazs pineapple coconut and their dulce de leche are to die for, in my opinion. Haagen-Dazs frozen yogurt is the best Ive ever found in the grocery stores, vanilla raspberry swirl! Yum!
Every year we go to the beach and a place we like to stay is just a block from a little shop that serves Haagen-Dazs. Every day before we go in for the night we walk down to the shop, order a double cone of our favorite Haagen-Dazs flavors, a different flavor each day for me.
Manage Your Weight the Healthy Way
There are many diet fads and trends that exist in America today. You can’t go more than a few minutes without seeing or hearing an advertisement on either television, in the newspaper, in a magazine or the radio with the newest, greatest solution to being overweight. The fact is, there is no one magic cure or diet that will work for everyone. You have to choose the best, most healthy plan for your individual body and situation and then go from there.
Many people have used the low-carb diet plan as a way to quickly drop pounds and inches. Although this diet typically has very fast results, it is hard to maintain over the long-term and it also can cause other health problems. It has been shown to increase cholesterol levels as well as blood pressure. Also, carbohydrates are what your body uses to keep your brain functioning at full speed. Without enough carbohydrates each day, you will be unable to fully function as necessary.
Others turn to counting calories and monitoring their diets. This method of dieting can work well, but if extreme dietary restrictions will be taking place, this is best done under a doctor’s supervision.
Exercise is also added to help people lose weight when they are trying to diet. Exercise will be most successful if you choose to do an activity that you already enjoy. Hate the gym? Select an outdoor activity such as running, walking, roller skating or even swimming. If you choose an activity that is fun, you will be more likely to want to do it.
No matter which diet you choose, congratulations on taking the first step towards regaining control of your health and your life!
Create a New Tradition with Homemade Icecream
Homemade ice cream is delicious and better than any ice cream you can buy. People love to have homemade ice cream on a hot summer day. It can cool you down and give you that sugar fix like no other. There are several steps to making homemade ice cream and people do it different ways. All you need is rock salt, ice and whatever flavors and mixings you want. Those are all added to your ice cream maker in different areas and then the machine works its magic.
The great thing about homemade ice cream is that you can make it anyway you want. Once you pick your base flavor, you can add any mixings and other flavors and create whatever you want. Many people will add crumbled cookies, peanuts, sauces, fruit, etc. It really is a great way to create what you like and make it everything you want it to be.
Homemade ice cream has been enjoyed on America’s front porches for decades. Many families will make homemade ice cream when they all get together or for a birthday celebration. Many people do not realize that making your own ice cream can be much cheaper than buying ice cream in a store. Not only that but you can make it with whatever toppings you want which usually is hard to find in a store.
Making homemade ice cream is fun and can even be something parents and children do together to make it extra special. Many people make homemade ice cream as part of their celebrations because it means more and acts as a special family tradition that can be carried on for many generations to come.
Team Frozen Yogurt vs. Ice Cream
Once the health craze became mainstream, ice cream came under attack. Everyone’s favorite frozen treat was seen as unhealthy with too many calories, too much fat and too much sugar. Yogurt had always been believed to be a great health food. People ate yogurt for breakfast, with their lunch (or as their lunch) and as a healthy snack. So why not find a way to turn that healthy yogurt into a frozen indulgence? Well, they did and now frozen yogurt is as popular (or more so) than ice cream. But is it healthier? Not really.
If you examine the nutritional contents on both ice cream and frozen yogurt, you may be surprised to see that in terms of calories, fat and carbohydrates, there is not that much of a difference. Let’s compare and see. A half cup of Edy’s vanilla ice cream has 140 calories, 7 grams of fat and 16 g of carbohydrates with 13 grams of sugar. A half cup of Edy’s vanilla frozen yogurt has 100 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 17 grams of carbohydrates and 13 grams of sugar. Taking it one step further, Edy’s fat free vanilla frozen yogurt has 90 calories, 0 grams of fat, 19 grams of carbohydrates and 13 grams of sugar. Notice that the sugar content stays the same no matter which option you choose. If you look at the order of ingredients, sugar is actually the second one listed on the yogurt and third on the ice cream. Both also have corn syrup and cream listed in the first three ingredients. But even worse, the carbohydrate count goes up every time you opt for the “healthier” version. The problem here, and with many low fat or fat free foods, is that the fat has to be replaced with something else and in this case it is carbohydrates. In essence, you are trading one bad thing for another.
Bottom line—an occasional indulgence is acceptable, but do not be fooled into thinking that frozen yogurt is always healthier than ice cream. And no matter which you choose, keep the toppings to a minimum or, better yet, keep them off completely. You are only adding extra calories, carbs and sugar to something that is already maxed out in those areas.
Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt is Unforgettable
Pinkberry is one brand of frozen yogurt that you won’t soon forget after tasting it. This company strives to make a huge impression on every consumer through their colorful stores and celebrity marketing. If you pay any attention to the tabloids, you have probably seen celebs like Park Hilton and Lady Gaga snacking on Pinkberry products. MTV’s sensation “The Hills” is full of shots of your favorite stars eating cups of Pinkberry yogurt.
One of the big perks of Pinkberry is its claim to completely natural products. It strives to make completely natural frozen yogurt for its customers who are highly health conscious while still desiring a fun treat. Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt is always fat free with no artificial flavorings used in the process. It also boasts lots of live yogurt cultures which are good for digestion.
Although Pinkberry is a very popular brand of frozen yogurt, there is one slight problem with it. There is a serious lack of variety as Pinkberry is limited by their use of only natural flavors. Currently they only have three flavors: original, green tea, and coffee. While the original and coffee flavors are yummy, you would have to be a fan of green tea to enjoy that flavor. Personally, I thought it tasted like grass infused yogurt… not exactly appetizing.
Overall, Pinkberry has created a fun experience for its customers with colorful shops painted in pretty pastels and furnished with modern styled chairs and tables. Each serving of Pinkberry frozen yogurt is only about 70 calories so you can’t get much better than that! If you love frozen yogurt, it is worth your time to at least give Pinkberry a try. You might love it!
The Road to Fantastic Frozen Yogurt
Frozen yogurt is a delightful treat that has captured the devotion of ice cream lovers around the world. This low fat alternative is the perfect treat for diets and those who are looking for a healthy way to enjoy a frozen dessert from time to time. Apart from the obvious ingredient of yogurt, how is frozen yogurt made? Here is a basic run down of the road to fantastic frozen yogurt.

It all starts with a few simple ingredients: milk, yogurt, gelatin, corn syrup, milk fats, colorings, and flavorings. The milk fat is responsible for about 5% of the yogurt’s overall volume. Milk fat is what gives frozen yogurt that decadent rich flavor that is similar to ice cream. Milk solids are also present which give frozen yogurt the form that is smooth and creamy. The sweetness is added through corn syrup and either cane sugar or beet sugar. By adding gelatin to the mix, it increases the temperature and stabilizes the consistency of the frozen yogurt. It keeps it from crystallizing when frozen.
If you were to visit a frozen yogurt factory, you might see an ice cream machine churning the frozen yogurt into swirled flavors that you love. Some factories use a more lengthy approach through an assembly line. This tends to turn out a better frozen yogurt, but the process takes hours.
For those who love frozen yogurt, the options are endless. Take the time to go through a tour of a frozen yogurt factory and see the entire process for yourself. This will help you appreciate your favorite tasty treat even more.
The Different Kinds of Bingo
Bingo has been around a long time. It started back in the 17th century and has been evolving ever since. As society has developed, so has bingo and now it is back and more popular than ever.
Traditional bingo is what we all grew up playing. We were introduced in preschool with picture cards and candy markers. We played it at most holiday parties from then on through grade school. They also used bingo in schools to ensure that we knew everything from foreign language definitions to math facts. It was a fun way to drill the concepts that we were supposed to be learning on a regular basis.

As we became adults, the games started taking place in church basements and bingo halls. For profit or fundraisers, those games were jam packed and the competition very fierce. It is played the same way as what we remember as a child, with the paper cards and the goal to get five numbers in a row. You use a dauber instead of candy to mark your numbers, but the prizes of traditional bingo are much better than the trinkets we won in grade school.
With the internet age, bingo has become virtual. Online bingo sites have been popping up from all around the world. These sites offer the convenience of games played around the clock every day of the week. This allows our busy society to fit bingo into their schedules vs. us scheduling things around bingo games.
Another huge perk of online bingo is the free bingo sites and online bingo promotions that are offered. Cheeky Bingo, Tasty Bingo, Posh Bingo and Ladies 888 offer to double or even triple your initial deposit giving you the best return for your money that you are going to find just about anywhere. They also offer free bingo rooms as well. You can play for free and still win big while enjoying your game.
The venue of the game has changed but not the game itself. You still are trying to get five numbers in a row before anyone else does. Screaming bingo isn’t quite the same, but you still win regardless. You will find that the socialization is actually better online as well. If you have one of those really obnoxious players in the room you can simply and effectively stop listening to them just by clicking the silence button. This means that you don’t have to listen to anyone that you don’t want to without offending them either. This can be a priceless attribute to online bingo if you are stuck in a room with annoying people.
No matter what venue you choose to play the important thing is that you enjoy playing the game that you love. Bingo is a fun and rewarding pastime that everyone can enjoy regardless of age or social status.
Convenient Frozen Yogurt with Haagen Dazs
We all love a good cup of frozen yogurt, but it isn’t everyday that we have time to rush out to the frozen yogurt shop and sit down to enjoy it. That is why it is important to find a great frozen yogurt product available in the supermarket to enjoy. After trying about 15 different varieties of frozen yogurt, I am totally in love with Haagen Dazs and it is the one and only brand that I buy on a regular basis.
Haagan Dazs offers me all the things about frozen yogurt that I really enjoy. This is the only brand of frozen yogurt that has the creamy consistency of ice cream with the low fat benefits of yogurt. I love that it comes in seven different flavors so you never get bored with the lack of variety. You can choose from natural yogurt, vanilla, coffee, raspberry swirl, dulce de leche, wildberry, and vanilla honey with granola. My personal favorite is the vanilla honey with granola. It is out of this world!
You can buy a full pint for about $4 at the supermarket and most places will offer it on sale at least once a month for around $3.00 per carton. If you want a rich treat, be sure to try the Dulce de Leche flavor which gives this creamy sensation of caramel that just melts in your mouth. This is the richest flavor and you will only want a small taste to satisfy your sweet tooth.
If you love frozen yogurt, be sure to give Haagan Dazs a try. You will love the variety of flavors and the creamy richness that it offers. It is by far my favorite kind of frozen yogurt available in supermarkets.
Improving Your Human Resources Department
When it comes to making your business as efficient as possible, one of the best places to start is with your human resources department. This department is one of the most essential but is also tasked with some of the most time consuming procedures, only second to the accounting department. One way to not only save on labor cost but also improve the efficiency of this department is with human resources management software. This software will take some of the time consuming procedures that are typical of this department and shorten them to mere seconds.
This type of software will allow you to keep some of the most sensitive pieces of information away from prying eyes while allowing your employees the ability to update and monitor their own personnel files; thus, cutting the time spent on these events in half. This increase in efficiency has the potential of saving a business a great deal in labor costs. In addition to increasing the efficiency of this department, it will also raise the moral of your employees because they will be able to monitor their own progress in your organization.
While human resources software is not the answer to every issue that may arise in this department, it is a major step in the right direction. It is also one of the smallest steps that can be made that will give you the most dramatic results in the shortest amount of time. Implementing this software into your organization will seem like only a very small step towards your goals of increasing efficiency and boosting employee morale. You will soon realize just how much time and money is being saved once your employees have the opportunity to use and review the benefits of this software to your organization.
